I had the pleasure to be stationed at Quoddy Head 65 to 68 with Don. I was from Eastport and it took me awhile to get him to get over that. I learned a lot from him and ended up staying in the Guard and retired in 1985 as officer in charge at Boothbay Harbor. I enjoyed having him as my first OIC and thought about him often over the years.

My First Duty Station right out of Boot Camp was Quoddy Head Life Boat Station and Chief Ashby was the OINC, He taught me a lot about the Coast Guard it's mission's and importance to Our Country, He was very instrumental in my decision to have a career in the Coast Guar, ThankYou Chief and Smooth Sailing.
